Daniel H. Smith is a partner at Abrams Fensterman, LLP.

 

Mr. Smith is a litigation attorney, practicing primarily in the areas of family law and matrimonial litigation. Mr. Smith has experience in all phases of complex litigation matters, from inception through trial, including appeals. He regularly appears in state courts throughout Long Island and New York City and has orally argued before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York. Mr. Smith has also negotiated many favorable settlements for his clients.

 

Mr. Smith has been designated as a New York Super Lawyer in Family Law since 2020, a distinction earned by only 5% of the lawyers in the NY metro area. Mr. Smith was designated a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers from 2013 through 2019. In 2014, Mr. Smith received the “Leadership in Law” Award presented by Long Island Business News.

 

In addition to his practice, Mr. Smith is a member of the Matrimonial Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association and a member of the Jewish Lawyers Association of Nassau County. He has also frequently served as a judge for appellate advocacy classes at the Hofstra University School of Law, assisting law students in developing their oral argument skills.

 

Mr. Smith received his J.D., cum laude, from the Hofstra University School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from the State University of New York at Binghamton. While in law school, Mr. Smith served as an Articles Editor of the Hofstra Law Review, for which he received the Kenneth S. Horton Award for commitment and dedication. He also competed as a team member in the Chief Judge Conrad B. Duberstein National Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition and interned for the Honorable Melanie L. Cyganowski in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York.
