Laurie Cartwright is an Associate at Abrams Fensterman, LLP. Ms. Cartwright’s practice focuses on administrative law and counseling in the areas of education, labor, and employment law. Her accomplishments span a breadth of roles and practice areas, including labor, mental health, domestic violence, and cannabis. Ms. Cartwright has served as an Administrative Law Judge for the New York State Office of Cannabis Management, litigated cases for the New York City Department of Education Administrative Trials Unit, represented clients of Mental Hygiene Legal Service of Brooklyn, and prosecuted crimes for the Kings County District Attorney’s Office.
As an Administrative Law Judge for New York, Ms. Cartwright issued decisions on novel areas of law involving the state’s cannabis industry and regulatory enforcement matters. She also collaborated on establishing the digital presence of the agency’s Office of Administrative Hearings.
At the New York City Department of Education, Ms. Cartwright successfully tried numerous employee misconduct cases and provided representation in matters involving medical and religious exemptions to Covid-19 vaccine mandates.
Ms. Cartwright holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh and a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School. She is admitted to practice in the State of New York.
