Ms. Colosi Florio focuses her practice on civil and criminal appellate litigation, as well as complex motion practice and land use matters, utilizing her unique combination of knowledge, experience and reasoned judgment—a foundation earned over the course of nearly 20 years of service as an attorney in the New York State Court System and during an additional decade of legal employment in the public and private sectors.
Immediately prior to joining Abrams Fensterman, Ms. Colosi Florio was honored to serve as Counsel to the Honorable Janet DiFiore, Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals and the State of New York. Earlier in her career, she was employed as Principal Law Clerk to Senior Associate Judge Vito J. Titone of the Court of Appeals, gaining invaluable knowledge of civil and criminal appellate matters. She previously served in the same Court as an attorney in the Central Staff, assisting in the review of certiorari factors and jurisdictional issues arising in civil applications for leave to appeal. She also served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Appeals Bureau of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, heightening her foundation in criminal appellate matters. In private practice, Ms. Colosi Florio represented clients in civil and criminal appeals in state and federal courts as Senior Counsel in a boutique litigation firm in Westchester County and, before that, as an Associate in a litigation firm in White Plains.
Ms. Colosi Florio’s advocacy is reinforced by her extensive knowledge of trial court motion practice and procedure gained through years of service as Principal Law Clerk to a number of distinguished judges of the New York State Supreme Court, County Court and Court of Claims, including Hon. Francis A. Nicolai, Administrative Judge of the Ninth Judicial District, and in court parts dedicated to matrimonial, environmental, foreclosure, tax certiorari and criminal matters.
