John Belesi was a partner at Abrams Fensterman, LLP and the director of the firm’s No-Fault Recovery Practice.
Mr. Belesi primarily focused on the recovery of unpaid no-fault claims and workers’ compensation claims for New York State healthcare providers. He settled thousands of claims and recovered millions of dollars for providers specializing in surgery, diagnostic and neurological testing, psychiatry, acupuncture, chiropractic, physical therapy, MRI, and medical supply.
Mr. Belesi acted as co-counsel in class action litigation against insurance companies and played leading roles in a wide variety of significant insurance coverage disputes. He had extensive knowledge in the complex civil RICO litigation and represented numerous healthcare providers on such matters. In addition, he has also provided guidance regarding compliance with state and federal fraud and abuse, including the Stark II and anti-kickback laws.
Mr. Belesi possessed the unique qualifications of being both a licensed chiropractor and attorney. This unique combination of education and experience allowed him to provide healthcare providers with comprehensive counsel in a broad spectrum of healthcare matters. Because of his vast experience as both an attorney and a practicing chiropractor, Mr. Belesi was able to interface and assist attorneys counseling healthcare clients on licensing and criminal issues.
