Course Description
This information-packed program will discuss the new Article 83 of the Mental Hygiene Law, which became effective in New York on April 21, 2014.
Article 83 of the Mental Hygiene Law is the New York version of the Uniform Adult and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act. New York is the thirty-seventh state to adopt this statute. Its purpose is to prevent or minimize interstate jurisdictional disputes in adult guardianship cases. It should make the litigation of interstate guardianship issues simpler and less expensive.
