Divorce

The divorce process can be very complex, whether it involves a modest financial situation or more high income individuals. These can include W-2 earners as well as members of various professional communities. Obtaining a positive resolution in these cases generally requires an attorney to prepare to proceed with litigation and/or trial in order to protect a client's financial situation, while at the same time pursuing an amicable and expeditious resolution of the matter. Reaching a settlement may not always be an option, but under either scenario, the client needs to understand the financial landscape of the marital estate.

At the law firm of Abrams, Fensterman, Fensterman, Eisman, Formato, Ferrara, Wolf & Carone, LLP, we have the experience to navigate through complicated divorce cases and to help our clients to obtain a fair and equitable result.

Our lawyers are experienced in identifying all assets, including those that the other spouse is potentially hiding or minimizing in order to shelter same from the divorce process.

Once all of the assets are identified, the next step is to value them. We will utilize the necessary experts to assist in analyzing and valuing complex assets, such as business interests, real estate, retirement accounts, 401 (k) plans, pensions, stocks and bonds. We address the value of professional degrees and licenses as well as the value of closely-held businesses, including professional practices.

While we certainly consider reaching a settlement with the opposition as a high priority for the benefit of our clients, we understand that this is not always possible. In these cases, we have the ability and the experience to achieve success in the courtroom.

All Other Aspects of Divorce

Of course, marriage dissolution involves much more than property division. Our lawyers regularly resolve issues of:

  • Child custody and parental access
  • Child support
  • Alimony/spousal support/maintenance
