We are a vibrant, busy, and growing full-service law firm seeking to expand our talented professional staff by adding a Paralegal with 3–5 years of experience. This position will provide support to our Mental Health and Hygiene team in Lake Success.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft litigation documents including motions, orders, stipulations, subpoenas, notices, and post-judgment filings.
  • Draft correspondence, discovery demands and responses, and related case documents in accordance with judicial procedures.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain case files in both paper and electronic formats.
  • Maintain detailed attorney calendars in Outlook, including scheduling and coordinating internal and external meetings.
  • Assist with Guardianship pleadings and proceedings (experience helpful).
  • File court documents, including e-filing in state and federal courts (NYSCEF and ECF).
  • Create, edit, format, and proofread pleadings, briefs, letters, and other legal documents using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Liaise directly with clients, courts, and third parties throughout all phases of litigation and case resolution.
  • Track and monitor court dates, deadlines, and case milestones.
  • Assist attorneys with preparation of exhibit binders and trial materials.
  • Handle incoming calls, messages, and scheduling for multiple attorneys.
  • Other ad hoc projects as assigned.

Paralegal Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of paralegal experience in litigation; Mental Hygiene or Guardianship practice a plus.
  • Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Proficiency drafting and formatting legal documents, including discovery, motions, briefs, and post-judgment work.
  • Experience with OCR technology and electronic document management.
  • Familiarity with state and federal e-filing systems (NYSCEF, ECF).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional client service.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe, and legal research tools such as Westlaw.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Billing experience a plus, but not required.

Salary range: $60,000 – $75,000, commensurate with experience.
