January 10, 2020 – Brooklyn, NY – Leading transportation attorney Ethan Gerber has been elevated to the role of Executive Partner of the law firm Abrams Fensterman and was appointed to its Executive Committee. He previously served as Partner and Director of the firm’s Transportation Industry and Alternative Insurance departments.

Before joining Abrams Fensterman in 2016, Mr. Gerber served as managing partner of Gerber & Gerber, then the City’s largest private law firm concentrating on the taxi and for-hire industry. He is known as one of the industry’s chief spokespersons and lobbyists, widely quoted in newspapers and digital media, and featured on radio and television. He has been vocal about such issues as capping e-hail vehicles and the City’s past plans to contract the manufacture of yellow cabs to a sole automaker.
In addition, Mr. Gerber handles complex litigation matters for a range of entrepreneurial clients. He has successfully defended and prosecuted such diverse matters as surety and insurance company bad faith actions, Civil Rico actions, admiralty jurisdiction matters and obtaining investment funds out of mismanaged businesses. He has successfully represented clients brought before many government entities including the Office of the Attorney General. His expertise also includes alternatives to traditional insurance.
A former Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, Mr. Gerber was assigned to a felony trial bureau responsible for prosecuting crimes primarily originating in Bushwick, Williamsburg and Bedford Stuyvesant. He proudly achieved a 100% top count conviction rate. He graduated from Brooklyn Law School, where he was a member, writer and editor of the Law Review.
Mr. Gerber serves on numerous prestigious professional committees, including the Brooklyn Bar Association, where he served as President from 2011-2012. He is a member of the Judicial Screening Committee for the Democratic Party in and for Kings County, the Judicial Screening Committees of the Brooklyn Bar Association and The New York City Bar Association. He was appointed by the Presiding Justice of the Appellate Division Second Department to the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission for the Second and Thirteenth Judicial Districts. He is a long-standing member of the Brooklyn Bar Association Grievance Committee and the Vice Chair (serving with Chairman and County Democratic Chairman Frank Seddio) of the Legislative Committee of the Brooklyn Bar Association. He has been inducted as a member of the Board of Directors of the Defense Association of New York.
