Patty Hurtado is a Partner at Abrams Fensterman, LLP and a member of the Family and Matrimonial Law practice group working in the firm’s Brooklyn office.
Ms. Hurtado has been an active trial attorney in the field of Family Law for almost twenty years and has litigated and tried court cases representing both adult parties and the subject minor children involved in family law matters. Ms. Hurtado has extensive experience in all aspects of family law litigation, including cases involving domestic violence allegations as well as resist-refuse/parental alienation issues. In addition, Ms. Hurtado had the invaluable experience of serving as Principal Court Attorney to the Honorable Sarah L. Krauss, Acting Justice of the Supreme Court, in Kings County Family Court. As Principal Court Attorney, she was responsible for the management of all of Judge Krauss’ cases, which centered on the issues of custody, visitation, guardianship, and family offenses/orders of protection. Representing all parties involved in a family law matter, including the judge presiding over these matters during her time as a Principal Court Attorney, has given Ms. Hurtado a unique perspective and understanding of family law litigation, trials, and the court system. Ms. Hurtado’s diverse background provides clients with a zealous and passionate advocate who works tirelessly to obtain for them the most successful outcome possible.
Ms. Hurtado was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She continued her education at, and received her Juris Doctorate from, St. Mary’s University School of Law. During her third year of law school Ms. Hurtado was selected to be a Student Attorney in the Criminal Defense Clinic, where she represented clients in all phases of their misdemeanor cases, from inception to trial.
Ms. Hurtado is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and is fluent in Spanish.
