Client Alert: PPP Issues With Employees Receiving Unemployment Benefits

By Melanie Wiener and Melody Schor

Dear Valued Client,

If you have received funding for a PPP loan, Abrams Fensterman LLP is here to answer questions and guide you through the process on how to properly use those funds. We are still waiting for the SBA and Treasury to issue guidance on the PPP loan forgiveness. However, the Treasury and SBA updated their Frequently Asked Questions page. Many clients have advised us that previously laid-off employees would rather receive unemployment benefits than be added back to the business payroll. The Treasury and SBA provides guidance on this issue below:

Abrams Fensterman LLP would like to remind you that if you have not applied for a PPP loan, or your existing lender has advised you that they are not accepting or processing PPP applications, or you have not submitted an EIDL application, please contact Melanie I. Wiener, Esq. at mwiener@abramslaw.com or Melody Schor, Esq. at mschor@abramslaw.com immediately.
