CLIENT ALERT: A reminder that the minimum wage and salary for exempt employees have now INCREASED

Happy New Year to Our Clients and Friends

A reminder that the minimum wage and salary for exempt employees

have now INCREASED.

For all pay periods and paychecks that include December 31, 2019 and thereafter, workers must be paid at least as follows:

$15.00 per hour for all employees in NYC

$11.10 per hour for all other employees in NYS

Please note that the new law also ELIMINATES the TIP CREDIT in all miscellaneous industries.

For EXEMPT, SALARIED employees, the law has also changed. ALL exempt NYC employees must now be paid $1,125.00 per week, or $58,500.00 per year. Outside of NYC, the numbers are a little different.

Downstate, in Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties, salaried employees must be paid a minimum of $975.00 per week, or $50,700.00 per year. In the rest of New York State, these employees must be paid a minimum of $885.00 per week, or $46,020.00 per year.
