"Ethical Challenges for Family Lawyers in the 21
st Century"
The practice of family law has always been a minefield of ethical dilemmas, but today's family lawyer faces a growing and even more complex set of challenges. New technology, social media, emerging professional roles and social changes have created a new set of issues that create potential obstacles and dilemmas. This institute will explore how emerging trends such as social media and child custody evaluation consultants have created new ethical dilemmas for family lawyers. The tension between a child's best interests and zealous advocacy, and the ethical questions that arise from that tension, will also be examined.
