Fastest-Growing Long Island Law Firm Backs Long Island Capital Alliance, the Oldest Regional Venture Capital Association in USA
The Abrams Fensterman law firm is standing behind the efforts of the new chairman of its Corporate and Securities Department, Neil Kaufman, in his attempt to generate renewed interest and participation in the Long Island Capital Alliance ("LICA"), formerly known as the Long Island Venture Group. Mr. Kaufman is Vice Chairman of the organization, and together with the other directors of LICA, is spearheading a drive to improve opportunities available to local entrepreneurs and investors.
Jeff Bass, LICA's Chairman, remarked that "Neil has been a major supporter of LICA for many years, and we appreciate all his efforts in making LICA so successful in promoting the growth of Long Island companies. The additional contributions made by Abrams Fensterman over the past year, since Neil joined the firm, have significantly assisted LICA in achieving its goals. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Abrams Fensterman, as it continues to grow in stature in the Long Island business community, in furthering our mutual goals of promoting the growth of Long Island businesses and our local economy."
LICA's mission is to encourage economic development on Long Island by facilitating capital formation for a broad range of companies in various industries - - from start-ups to mature middle-market, closely-held, and publicly-traded businesses.
LICA seeks to create a productive and business-friendly environment that affords area businesses access to the resources necessary to compete successfully in today's markets. The organization serves as a focal point for the exchange of ideas among new and existing business enterprises, successful entrepreneurs, investors, and service providers.
Since 1984, LICA has assisted dozens of local companies in raising hundreds of millions of dollars in growth capital, thereby creating multitudes of new jobs and facilitating the growth of the Long Island economy. For nearly 20 years, Mr. Kaufman has been a leader in this organization, serving as a Director and Vice Chairman of the Board. Since Mr. Kaufman joined Abrams Fensterman in early 2011, the firm has taken on a sponsorship role for LICA, and has also provided substantial administrative and back-office assistance to help LICA maximize the benefits it provides to the business community.
For the last several years, LICA has been hosting quarterly capital forums which allow local companies to present their business plans to prospective investors. Many successful matches have been made at LICA events. The next LICA capital forum is scheduled for Friday, January 13, 2012, at 8:00 a.m. at 68 South Service Road, Melville, New York in the lower level conference center.
