The Medical Malpractice Department operates out of the New York City, Lake Success, Brooklyn, and Rochester offices, and handles cases in the Metropolitan New York City area and its surrounding suburbs, as well as the upstate New York region. Partner David Verschell and Senior Litigation Associate Denise Buda, with combined medical malpractice experience of over 25 years, supervise the cases and report directly to Mr. Kelton. Associates Lee N. Jacobs and Danielle Elias handles the day-to-day work on the cases and report to Mr. Verschell and Ms. Buda. Medical analysis and strategic support are provided by attorneys Michael Goldstein, M.D., J.D. and John Belesi, D.C., J.D. Paralegal Cassandra Bellange and Legal Assistant Stacey Artis assist the associates.

The firm has divided the Department into two legal teams headed by Mr. Verschell and Ms. Buda. Cases are assigned to the teams on an alternating basis as they come in from the carrier, so that each team maintains an equal caseload. However, if one team has particular experience with a client or a particular medical issue, that team may be given a new case involving the same client or issue. Each team is responsible for each case assigned to that team, from intake through discovery, motion practice and completion of all pre-trial matters, including all post-note of issue motions and court appearances. Either Mr. Kelton or Mr. Verschell will be the trial attorney should the case go to trial.
