Dr. Michael Goldstein is Of Counsel at Abrams, Fensterman, Fensterman, Eisman, Greenberg, Formato & Einiger, LLP.

Dr. Goldstein is a board certified ophthalmologist, sub-specializing in corneal surgery and a practicing attorney. He is actively engaged in the practice of both law and medicine.

During his almost 29 year career as an Ophthalmologist, Dr. Goldstein has been involved in numerous cutting edge surgeries. He is a fellowship trained corneal surgeon with expertise in all aspects of corneal surgery including: LASIK, PRK, DSAEK, and corneal transplants. He co-developed the Lambda Technique of Cataract Surgery. This technique was presented at several annual meeting of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. His experience examining and studying the effects of ocular trauma on professional boxers for the New York State Athletic Commission gives him a unique insight into eye injuries. His paper on boxing related eye injures that was presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology involved more professional boxers than any previous study.

Dr. Goldstein graduated from SUNY Binghamton with a B.A. in Chemistry. He received his M.D. from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He did a Rotating Internship at the Los Angeles County-U.S.C. Medical Center. He was a Resident and Chief Resident in Ophthalmology at Brookdale Hospital. He did a Fellowship in Cornea at Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital.

His hospital affiliations include New York Eye and Ear Infirmary (where he serves on the Operating Room and Standardization Committees), Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, Beth Israel Hospital and North Shore University Hospital. He has been nominated to the position of Censor of the N.Y. County Medical Society and Alternate Delegate to MSSNY

While still practicing medicine he attended the Pace University School of Law, as an evening student, and in January, 2007 where he graduated Cum Laude. He was a member of the Law Review.

Dr. Goldstein's background as a physician combined with his legal expertise enables him to view the law from a unique perspective. Clients who have been injured in an accident can benefit from his ability to analyze their case from both the medical and legal perspective. His expertise and experience enables him to play a unique role in helping physicians defend themselves in medical malpractice cases. His background in Healthlaw and Administrative Law makes him well suited to help physicians navigate the regulatory minefields that have become a part of the practice of twenty first century medicine.

His experience as both a physician and attorney can help the communication process between the physician client and their other attorneys. Physicians who are often uncomfortable dealing with legal issues have an opportunity to work with Dr. Goldstein who understands their perspective and can help them deal with their legal issues.

Dr. Goldstein areas of interest include all aspects of Healthcare Law. He has a special interest in Malpractice Defense, OPMC and other regulatory agency defense.
